CAPS for HOPE

CAPS for HOPE is a community-based art project sponsored by Glen Cove Salutes to honor Glen Cove veterans through the power of art. Amanda Fisk, the Library’s Artist in Residence and Michael Danchalski, local architect and veteran, were commissioned to design and build the artwork in commemoration of the program’s third anniversary. Neighbors and friends came together to create a four-panel “HOPE” mural using recycled plastic caps and lids collected by Glen Cove residents of all ages. This exhibition not only showcases the remarkable artwork produced through this collaborative effort but also emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship and community engagement. By highlighting the intersection of art, recycling, and veteran support, we aim to inspire hope and ignite positive change within our community and beyond. The mural was displayed at the Glen Cove Public Library in March, the Glen Cove Senior Center in April, Friends Academy in May, Glen Cove High School in June, and Downtown BID in July and August. It is slated to travel to various locations throughout the city in the coming months.
